Welcome...

...to the website of Matt Parkin, intended to become the home for a lot of the useful information I’ve collected about sound and recording. Whether you’re an audio professional yourself, a musician with an interest in recording, or just someone keen to find out more, I hope you'll find something of interest here.

NEW for June 2006!

For a bit of fun, I’ve started to jot down some thoughts about the most interesting albums (of all kinds) which find their way onto my hifi. To find out what I’ve been listening to recently and why I like it, take a look here.

Recording at the Royal Albert Hall

For musicians...

The site includes a very comprehensive guide to the recording process, aimed mainly at amateur and semi-professional musicians who are, or would like to be, involved in making recordings. It describes in detail everything that’s involved in putting together a first rate classical-style recording. It should provide an ideal introduction to the recording process for anyone involved in choirs, brass or wind bands, amateur orchestras and youth ensembles.

For audio professionals...

On this site you will find a collection of forms and templates for use in the studio and a list of links to some of the companies whose equipment I’ve used in my work.
